A political satire, The West Street Gang was produced as environmental theater at the Spike Bar in 1977. The patrons of a shabby waterfront gay club are forced to band together to defend themselves against a variety of fag bashers — from street punks to political opportunists to media raptors—and then Anita Bryant walks through the door.

"Uproarious" – Cue magazine
"Rapid-fire comedy" – Vito Russo, The Village Voice
"Daringly theatrical and hilariously funny" – Jerry Fitzpatrick, The Advocate
"I laughed till my stomach hurt" – Arthur Bell, The Village Voice
"The best gay play ever written" – After Dark magazine (back in 1977)
"If you really insist, I might have to admit it may have been mildly amusing" – Michael Feingold
